Rob Walker has been a network sports broadcaster for 10 years and a lifelong athletics fan. A former Oxfordshire county cross country and 1500m champion, he has run 5 marathons and still competes for his club Dacorum and Tring in the southern men's league.
Since 2003 he has travelled from the Caribbean to East Africa, interviewing some of the world's best athletes. His annual trips to Ethiopia and Kenya have greatly increased his understanding of distance running.
After reporting on the Helsinki world championshipss for the BBC in 2005, he moved into the commentary box for the IAAF, commentating in Osaka and Berlin, as well as the 2010 world indoors and world half marathon championships and this year's world cross in Spain.
He worked alongside Jon Rawling in New Delhi, commentating on the commonwealth games last October and says Daegu will be the highlight of his year.
